2013 in 5 Minutes

Made a video and put it on my Facebook, I got so many great responses I decided to share with you guys, especially since Midday Spritzer was a large part of my 2013! Cheers to a New Year!

Apartment Update: Winter/Christmas Decor

So you guys have seen my den converted walk in closet, my bathroom annnd now you get to see bits and pieces of my apartment! I haven’t perfected my bedroom yet aka I haven’t bought my mirrored dresser  sooo it might be a while before I make one. I was actually really excited to make this video because you get to see some of my DIY’s in action, when I was younger I used to make a bunch of stuff and stash it….like a chipmunk, now I’m pleased that I can actually make things that are sturdy enough to be viewed year round!

Have you guys started decorating for the holiday’s?

Décor Spritz: I like to decorate smart meaning I choose pieces that can last for a few months, I don’t like to buy anything that is too particular to the holiday ie. I don’t own anything that says happy Halloween, instead it might say happy fall, no ghost or goblins for me but a few wicker pumpkins and a wooden scarecrow. I’m not a big fan of decorating with red and green because as soon as Christmas is over I’m over it. When I do I tend to keep it small so it can be easily removed from the scene without feeling too empty. I like silver and blue for the Christmas tree, if I could help it my garland would be white but for the sake of saving some simoleons I didn’t purchase new garland this year. I like classic colors brown, cream, taupe, black & white and then adding a splash of color here and there. I don’t do much for Spring and Summer but change out my fake flowers from time to time, and of course the towels in the bathroom and bed spread annnnd curtains….. sometimes.

Hope you enjoy! I would love to hear some feedback from you guys! Any questions about decorating on a budget feel free to send me an e-mail glitzyspritzer@live.com

DIY Collage Wall {Part 1}

So I’ve seen this gorgeous little collection for a while now on Pinterest and I’ve just been gathering the items that I would need to make my own collage wall. To be honest this isn’t going to be the full tutorial because I haven’t finished collecting all the items I need to make this look exactly how I want but for now it serves as a great starting point!

Picture Frames
Paint Brush
Spray Paint
Any other items you feel like hanging on your wall

I got my frames from Walmart! At only $1.50-3.00 a piece you can’t go wrong.

I removed the glass and backing.

Keep them because they are perfect for diy decor and gifts! I stored mine for a later project which I’m sure I will blog about for all to see. 🙂

Next I attempted to mix what I like to call the perfect Tiffany Blue. I used green and yellow then added white until he color was juuuust right. I haven’t done a bedroom room tour yet but my room is a mixture of taupe, purple, silver and cream. I thought the teal would add a splash of color. I know it sounds odd but I went for more of an elegant look. It’s really comforting because my faux fireplace and bookshelves are all ivory so the colors work well together.

I used about two coats of this color and let them dry. I didn’t paint the back because if you guys couldn’t tell by now I’m rather lazy I prefer the effortless way when it comes to fashion and decor. Where there is a shortcut I will find it.

It’s not done yet but next I arranged the picture frames on my wall vertical and horizontal. Once I get more the look will be more complete. That’s it for now! Happy DIY-ing!

How to Build a Walk In Closet (for less than $200)

It’s been a while since I made a video, I’ve been talking about doing this room tour ever since I did my Paris themed bathroom room tour! I filmed it a while ago, but finally got around to editing it last night. Luckily this one didn’t require much, sorry I say “um” a lot I normally edit those out, but not today! 🙂

If you live in an apartment, or have a small closet this video will give you ideas on how to maximize closet space, tips on organizing and an inexpensive way to hang all your clothes! Let me know if you guys like video’s like these and I will think about making a bedroom room tour, living room, porch, foyer etc! My apartment is forever changing and I love decor!

Like I say in the video I live in a one bedroom apartment with a den, my room does have a mini walk in closet but I hate having all my stuff packed into one spot so hence why I turned my den into a walk in!

DIY EARRING HOLDER TUTORIAL: (picture frame converted earring holder)

Room Organizing
IKEA units
ESPRESSO BOOKSHELF (short -similar)

DIY- Picture This

Today’s DIY is another Pintrest re-creation. This one is rather simple actually. This is great for gifts and a way to keep all your earrings organized.

I went to Vegas for a week a few months ago and this was perfect for traveling, all my earrings stayed in place and I was able to bring all of them with me without having to pick and choose or worry about them getting lost in transit.

Picture Frame- $1 each at Family Dollar
Hot Glue/Hot Glue Gun- I’ve had mine forever and a day $15-20 maybe
Plastic Netting- $1 for a pack of 3 at Family Dollar
Spray Paint- $7-$10 depending!
Ribbon- $1

1. Remove the glass from your picture frame

2. Cut the netting so that it fits on the back of your picture frame and use hot glue to secure it in place. (Make sure the corners are really secure as these seem to be the trouble areas, I’ve had to re-glue mine twice now)

3. Hot glue the netting to the back of picture frame

4. Spray paint frame and netting. Let dry for 30 minutes.

5. Glue ribbons onto netting in a pattern of your choice.

As you can see below I wanted a bronze and gold one for my gold jewelry (I didn’t like how they looked on the silver one) so I bought extra materials and voila! Depending on how many earrings you have, you might want to decide how many you want to make to avoid over crowding for aid in easy access.

The final product! I keep these hung in my den that I turned into a walk in closet so it’s perfect for hanging on the wall!

Have fun! If you need any help or assistance I’m only an e-mail address or comment away!
